Brightening the spirits of residents in care centers

The Care Center Support program has evolved over 45 years, currently serving residents in six Skilled Nursing Facilities of Whatcom County. Identified through the Activities Directors, Action League of Bellingham (formerly Assistance League of Bellingham) volunteers fulfill personal Christmas wish lists from residents who have no family or friend support and may be otherwise forgotten at this holiday time .They also work with the Activity Directors to provide special springtime gifts. These gifts range from art supplies, games, container gardens, bird feeders, music and movies which are enjoyed by all residents in the Care Facilities.

"It is hard to put into words how grateful we are to Action League for bringing so much joy to our residents during the holiday season. I saw many smiles and some tears as the residents opened their gifts. Your kindness is overwhelming. We can't thank you enough for the good work that you do."
