The Eating Healthy program provides scholarships to Whatcom County students from preschoolers through 8th grade who wish to participate in camps and activities designed to encourage growing and eating organic fruits and vegetables. We partner with a local nonprofit, Common Threads Farm, which is dedicated to “growing good eaters” by exposing young children to the joy of eating fresh produce. "Thank you, Action League, for providing the funds so we can offer our hands-on, science-based gardening and cooking camps free to kids in the Kendall area. In Whatcom County, the Kendall area is furthest from food access, health resources, and childcare resources, and families have the least support from the school system to access these things over the summer." When kids eat better, they learn better, act better and feel better! Young children participate in activities that are dedicated "growing good eaters" by exposing them to the joy of eating fresh produce. |
