 Whatcom School Partners

We provide new school clothes to kids in need

Action League of Bellingham is best known for Whatcom School Partners (WSP), our largest philanthropic program. Originally called Operation School Bell (OSB), WSP provides K through 12th grade students in need the opportunity to shop for new school clothes. WSP currently serves eight local public school districts, Each district is allotted a specific number of JCPenney gift cards based on low income and enrollment. The school district Family Service Coordinators, who work with low income and homeless families, select eligible students each year.

"As a Homeless Liaison for the Bellingham School District for over 20 years, I partnered with Action League of Bellingham to connect school-age children with Whatcom Schools Support (formerly Operation School Bell). Historically, Whatcom Schools Support (WSS) has been the only program in Whatcom County providing students with new school clothes and shoes. By easing the financial burden on families, WSS helps ensure students start the school year prepared, comfortable, and ready to learn. Over the years, WSS has been a blessing for parents and guardians struggling to clothe their children for the new school year."
